Frequently Asked Questions
How I work, what makes the approach different, and what you can expect.
What kinds of problems do you help solve?
I work on decisions where the evidence is complex and the next commitment matters: a programme meeting its KPIs without producing the intended outcomes, an initiative that needs a sound design, or a funded venture whose technology, commercial route and capital are out of step. I start with the decision and the constraint.
What makes your approach different?
My work grows out of my own independent research. I developed QUATISE® to examine how evidence, incentives and dependencies interact across science, commercialisation and capital. I use this original methodology to identify structural causes and translate the findings into decision criteria and practical systems your team can use.
What is QUATISE®?
QUATISE® is my proprietary methodology for analysing complex decisions and transitions. It has been formally recognised as applied RD&I under OECD Frascati criteria in Germany. It structures the work around the current state, the binding constraint, the available evidence, a defensible route forward and the conditions for continuing, adapting or stopping.
Do you support policymaking and initiative design?
Yes. I work with institutions, funders, programme operators and innovation ecosystems on evaluations, policy-relevant evidence and the design of initiatives, programmes and portfolios. The work can cover intervention logic, selection criteria, incentives, KPIs, governance and the routines needed to put the design into practice.
What do ventures receive?
I work with funded ventures, scaleups and SMEs on the decisions that connect technical progress, customer adoption and capital. Depending on the scope, outputs include an independent evaluation, a prioritised transition roadmap, capital sequencing, evidence milestones and decision gates. I can also build repeatable execution and review routines with the team.
Will I receive a report or help with implementation?
The scope can range from a focused evaluation to repeatable systems for execution. Tangible outputs may include a written diagnosis, prioritised design choices, evidence requirements, decision criteria, responsibilities and review routines. I agree the deliverables with you before the work starts.
Will I work directly with you?
Yes. Arise Innovations® is my independent expert practice. I lead the analysis, develop the recommendations and work directly with you. My background spans academic research, industrial R&D, commercialisation and institutional decision-making.
How does an engagement start, and what does it cost?
Start with the decision you need to make, the material already available and your timing. I then define the questions, scope, deliverables and fee with you. Focused reviews start at €7,500 plus VAT; larger diagnostic or architecture engagements start at €18,000 plus VAT. Capital-strategy work for ventures starts at €6,000 plus VAT. Final fees depend on the agreed scope.
How do you handle confidential work?
I agree confidentiality requirements at the outset, including an NDA where appropriate. Client-specific case content is published only with permission; otherwise it remains anonymous. Published research and permitted case examples are available through the Research page.
